The CEM-COPE Program is a psychoeducation and skills-based program for individuals with a known history of child exploitation material offences (and no history of direct contact offences).
An information sheet about the Program is attached.
After a COVID-facilitated hiatus of two years, the CEM-COPE Program is back up and running through the Problem Behaviour Program, Forensicare. The program has been revised in line with feedback from initial pilot outcomes and will now be delivered as part of the Problem Behaviour Program’s standard program offerings. The research pilot will continue to run alongside this as an additional voluntarily component, which means that individuals can now engage in the program without having to participate in the research pilot. Forensicare are aiming to deliver this program twice each year, depending on referral numbers. Referrals for the next round of the program (commencing in August) are now open. Referrals can be made directly to the Problem Behaviour Program using the attached third-party or self-referral form (further instructions are included on the forms). Referrals can be made as part of an individual’s sentenced legal order or during court proceedings, so long as a formal charge of a CEM offence has been laid and a guilty verdict entered. Please note, however, that Forensicare may not accept eligible individuals into the program if they are likely to be sentenced to custody during the course of the program itself. Referrals can also be made for individuals with relevant offences who are no longer on legal orders, either as a self-referral or third-party referral.
